Every year, financial services groups attend an industry conference that’s the perfect opportunity to form new business connections. Our team was tasked with creating a pre-conference outreach strategy for a client attending one of these events. It needed to be eye-catching enough to secure a meeting at the conference. The strategy played off of nostalgia and the copy riffed off of the 80s, so I created a look that was consistent with the company’s brand but also felt unique to the era of mix tapes and neon windbreakers.

By juxtaposing the bright, colorful motifs of the 80’s (complete with an actual working cassette player with a personalized message) with themes of innovation and modernity, our team put a playful spin on the concept of industry progress. The result was a memorable conversation starter that opened the doors to conference meetings, leading to new business relationships for the company.

A favorite aspect of this project for me was the playful attitude; gentle humor can open doors so much more effectively than brash messaging.
